Shades of the Morning

When I stepped outside to feed the horses Friday morning, I was stopped in my tracks by the beautiful color of the sky.  I grabbed my camera so I could capture the sight before it disappeared; the light and colors change so quickly as the sun rises.

The first shades of morning.
Shades of pink emerge.
Misty: "Quit lookin' at the sky.  Can't you see I'm starvin' here?!"
My favorite shades of gray.
(And you can see that Misty is far from starvin'.)
SaraJane LOVES her Progressive Diet Balancer pellets. After scarfing down her pellets in her stall next door, she visits Misty's stall to Hoover-up the few pellets Misty always leaves behind in her grain bin.

SaraJane: "As long as I'm here, I might as well help myself to Misty's hay too."
The girls get some loose hay in their troughs and a larger portion in their individual Porta-Grazers, to slow them down a bit. They go back and forth between the stalls, nibbling from both slow feeders and troughs.

Barn chores done; horses fed; manure scooped.

Shades of gold are joining the pinks.
Shades of gold chasing shades of pink.
The gold has consumed the pink.
It's time for me to go inside and get ready for work.

What a great way to start the day.

  1. Wow, those skies are absolutely gorgeous. What a treat in the morning before work. That's also my favorite shade of gray too!

  2. Skies like that always make those barn chores easier to do. I pity the folks who don't get out to see what we see. I'm glad you grabbed the camera. Stunning!!

  3. Your morning sounds a lot like mine -- barn chores and then off to work with maybe a beautiful sunrise as a bonus.

  4. You have gorgeous mornings - the sky and your girls. SaraJane looks fabulous. I wish I could send my Foggy out there to you to get him nice and round. You sure know what you are doing! Happy horses - happy you!

  5. What a treat! Sunrises and sunsets always stop me in my tracks.

My word verification is "butslum". Poetic, funny, and could have multiple meanings. I like it. I think I'll start using that word.

  6. What a beautiful way to start your day!

  7. Very pretty! I admit I'm rarely up early enough (and almost never by choice) to see the sunrise anymore.

  8. I could not agree more--that is an AWSUM way to start the day. Sometimes earth is so wonderful from top to toe. And it's nice too when the camera/photographer can make what you see with your eyes look good in a snapshot! Now that's not always easy!

  9. We have beautiful sunsets and sunrises but this one out-did it's self.

  10. Wow! Those are beautiful skies. I do my morning chores in the dark.

  11. Now how weird is that!......Two greys. I have ond grey now, Gracie. I owned her sister, Misty!!. Then she was sold to an eventing family. Misty`s daughter, is called Sunny. The colours in your shots are so close to my two! Almost eerie!!

  12. Beautiful sky shots!

Progressive - through foster and smith, right? Notice any changes yet?

  13. Feral, I buy Progressive pellets at the feed store. Been feeding it for about 4 years and very happy with it. Do you feed the Progressive diet balancer?
